My bike got stolen. It happened sometime between 10:30pm last night and 11:00 am this morning. I filed an incident report with Campus Security, but that bike is gone. I should have used a better lock. A pair of bolt cutters could have gone through that lock in a matter of minutes, if not seconds.
The thief might have won the battle, but he won’t necessarily win the war.
I want to build a Radio Alarm Bike lock and lock up a decoy bike. This is a simple device that could be built using a cheap-o cable bike lock, a radioshack plastic enclosure box, and an FM broadcast circuit. When the bike lock is cut, it would activate the weak FM distress signal. I would have a radio tuned to this FM frequency in my room and amplified. I could then go out and beat the @#$% out of the thief with a large blunt object. Or, this could activate a security camera, call security, etc.
Unfortunately, I have no funds for this project. It would probably cost me $50. Any donors or interested parties?
Saturday was a horrible day of unfortunate events. If anyone aks how I got the cut on my face, I’ll simply say I don’t want to talk about i. We lost so many good men.
I woke up early on Saturday morning to do a photo shoot of a Shrimp Farm. I went downstairs, reached in the fridge and grabbed some OJ. I poured a glass and that’s about the last thing I remember. I woke up dazed and confused 10 to 30 minutes later in a puddle of OJ, blood, and broken glass.
I started to clean the mess and myself, but I fealt really dizzy and nauseous. I decided to go upstairs to bed with an icepack and a paper towel. Later that day, I heard Ben and Megen downstairs. I was still dazed. I helped them clean up and they told me that I should probably go to the ER.
I spent the rest of the day in the ER. They cat scanned me and took X-rays since I blacked out.
When I got back from the ER, I realized I had left both my cellphone and roomkey inside. I spent the rest of the evening at Phikap.
My two favorite Indian chicken recipes:
Chicken 65
Chicken Makhani
I made the Chicken 65 last Friday when Sara came up from North Carolina to visit me. It was excellent, but I have to admit I enjoyed the Chicken Makhani I made today even more. No worries - the company was more enjoyable on Friday. Then again, I did enjoy eating with my roomates who shared some potato latkes, beer, and wine. OK - the company was more attractive on Friday. Fair enough?
Sara came up on Friday and left Sunday morning. She had her baggage for approximately 12 hours during the entire trip since it was misplaced by the airline. We still had a great time. I got some great shots of the Botanical Gardens. I’m regretting that she wouldn’t let me take any photos of herself. Next time….
There came a point in the semester where I realized I needed to buckle down and get my work done. Hence, I dropped off the face of the internet and most of the planet. Now that life has resumed a leisurely trot back in the suburbs of York, PA, I will have more time for the things I enjoy.
What do I enjoy? Evidently, I not enjoy schoolwork. Or speaking proper English. Surprise, surprise. I do enjoy going exploring, taking photos, and sitting down and jamming with some new friends. In other words, the past week has been very relaxing. Oh, and being a materialistic @#$!, which I have satisfied by my recent purchase of a new camera. It was purchased in the name of art. Can we say “full frame sensor”? With this camera, I have no reason for sub par pictures. The sky is the limit…as long as the depth of focus is set correctly.
Many thanks to the Greek Life office for awarding me the “Creative Achievement” award for my photography work. I wasn’t able to attend the award ceremony last night, but I’m very honored. Last night I had my Object-Oriented design final and then performed with the orchestra in Thwing Ballroom.
