I have been accepted as a graduate student into Case’s Computer Engineering masters program. I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t exactly keep a stellar GPA (it’s not that bad), but what I lack in academics I make up for in persistance. I am very pleased that I was accepted!

What does this all mean? Well, it looks like I’ll be here in Cleveland for awhile longer: at least until December 2007, unless I take summer courses, which is not likely because I want to continue doing internships during the summer.
Why Case? First and foremost, I would like to say that Case was *not* my only option, but it remained at the top of my list. I have really enjoyed my time as an undergraduate and saw no reason to jump ship. In addition, the graduate level courses in Computer Engineering are very interesting. The offer was sweetened even more by the fact that:

• I Won’t have to take the GRE’s!
• 9 Credits of my Masters work will count towards my undergraduate degree
• My masters project will count as my senior capstone
• The extra time will allow me to take additional courses outside my focus
• My scholarship will be applied to my master’s work
• I will be the shady old guy at all the parties

Speaking of shady old guy, I guess I can now start introducing myself as a “grad student”. I think it has a very sexy ring to it. “Oh, hi, I’m Ben Chodroff. By the way, I’m a grad student. Maybe you didn’t know, but I’m kind of a big deal.”

Perhaps not. Anyways, as soon as they cut through the bullshit and realize I’m a computer engineer, I’m back to base zero. I’ll stick to the, “Oh, hi, I’m Ben. Trust me, I’m a nerd. That’s great. Now walk away. Good.”
