Whoever thought of having our formal in a brewery was a genius. The night was very entertaining for everyone who came, which included quite a few alumni from out of town, state, and country. I know my date, Janine Kaiser (just a friend), and I had a great time. A motorcoach drove us from Phikap to the Great Lakes Brewery. It didn’t look like more than a warehouse from the outside, but inside and upstairs was a very well decorated seating area with a well stocked bar featuring the many beers Great Lakes offers.
They gave us a very informative tour of the factory and on how beer is made, packaged, and shipped. After the tour, we headed back upstairs and mingled while sampling a few drafts on tap before taking our seats for dinner.
I think most will agree that the highlight of the evening was the live swing band. Classics, like ‘Route 66′, were played while we ate a delicious dinner. Afterwords, they kicked it up for some dance time. Who knew Phikaps could dance?! My swing lesson from the other night wasn’t of much help for the footing, but at least I felt a bit more confident about it! Janine was more than willing to take charge and show me a few moves of her own. I can’t remember having a better dance partner - or someone so amazing to talk with. And stunning…
OK - enough of that. Just friends. Maybe friends who make dinner together every once in awhile? I’d be up for that. Yeah, we’ll see about that… I’m just glad she joined me for the evening. It was a great night.
The after party was a bit nuts - but I didn’t stay for too long. There was golfing with glasses, baseball with beer cans, and salad dressing got all over the neighbor’s house. Heh, no comment. The stories are still coming in.
