Ultimate Frisbee Tournament

On Saturday afternoon, I went down to Veale and took photos of the Men’s Ultimate Frisbee Tournament. At first I had trouble framing the images. Unlike basketball, where a subject will dribble the ball the entire way down the court, the frisbee is constantly being passed. This makes it hard to lock, focus, and finally compose the shot. Check out the shots in the gallery.

I finally got the hang of it after practicing some shots on a team that was warming up. I have seen the light and I *love* prime lenses. In all honesty, you simply get better shots because you spend less time zooming and more time making sure the subject is in focus. In addition, the fast aperature nature of prime lenses ensures that no matter what the lighting is, it is possible to take the shot.

I love my 135 prime so much that I’m considering selling my 70-200 f/2.8. I would rather own a 400mm and use my 135mm in place of it. I’ll put that plan off until the summer. I’ll probably end up keeping my 24-70 simply because zoom is great if you’re using it for casual purposes.
